The 3-story house plan was designed by a female architect at the local Nepal construction company S.S. Consult. The firm will also complete the construction.
The design has been reviewed by Delia Shumway, Director of Construction Activities at New Line Structure in New York. Delia is reviewing all of the earthquake reconstruction taking place at the House with Heart facility to ensure the buildings can withstand future earthquakes. We are very grateful to Martin Loy, President of New Line Structures, who has provided these services as an inkind gift.
Much of life in Kathmandu goes on outdoors, so the new building design incorporates several terraces. The building features solar panels that will provide electricity.
